Condition and Testing
Every drive is checked with HD Sentinel Pro before it is listed, so you know what you are getting. This is a used enterprise drive, and it is supplied as a bare drive only, with no caddy or tray included.
Compatibility
This drive uses a SAS interface, so it needs a SAS-capable RAID controller, HBA or server backplane. It will not work on standard SATA motherboard ports. It suits Dell PowerEdge, HPE ProLiant, Lenovo and most other SAS servers and storage enclosures, provided you have a compatible 2.5 inch caddy for your chassis. As a 512e drive, it is supported by modern controllers and operating systems; older RAID controllers may require 512n drives, so check your controller if you are mixing it into an existing array.
Ideal Uses
The drive is well suited to RAID arrays, VMware and Proxmox virtualisation hosts, NAS and SAN storage, and database servers that need fast, low-latency spinning storage. It is a cost-effective way to add capacity or replace a failed drive in an existing array.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the drive new or used?
This is a used enterprise drive. Before listing, it was tested with HD Sentinel Pro to check its health and performance. Used enterprise drives are a popular way to build reliable storage for much less than the cost of new hardware.
Does the drive come with a caddy?
No. It is sold as a bare drive. If your server uses hot-swap bays, you will need the correct caddy or tray for your chassis. Caddies are model-specific, so check your server model before ordering.
Will the drive work in my server?
It needs a SAS controller, HBA or SAS backplane. Most rack servers support SAS drives, but standard desktop motherboards do not. If you are unsure, send us your server or controller model and we will confirm compatibility before you buy.
What warranty do I get?
Every drive from BuyRefurb includes a 1-year carry-in warranty, plus a 7-day dead-on-arrival window from delivery. Please test your drive as soon as it arrives.
How quickly will my order ship?
Paid orders are packed securely and shipped nationwide via The Courier Guy, with door-to-door and Pudo locker options available at checkout. Shipping is charged at the exact courier cost, with no markup.
